The City of Dublin Police Department has initiated a Citizen Police Academy open to any resident of Dublin.   Persons who own a business or work in Dublin are also encouraged to participate.

All persons who wish to participate in this informative and educational program are encouraged to pick up an application packet at the Police Department.  These packets are available in the Communications Center.

The requirements for admission into a Citizen Police Academy class include:

A completed Citizen Police Academy Application.
An acceptable background check.
Acknowlegement of the CPA Code of Conduct.
Acknowlegement of the CPA Dress Code.
Completion of liability release form.

All decisions relative to acceptance into a Citizen Police Academy class are made by the Chief of Police.

Each session will run for thirteen consecutive weeks. Classes are conducted on Thursday evenings from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. Additional out-of-class activities will be scheduled to allow participants to engage in the full law enforcement experience.

Classes are conducted by Dublin Police Officers, as well as outside speakers from various State and Federal law enforcement agencies.

Two sessions of the Citizen Police Academy are conducted each year.

The first session began on June 11, 2009.

The next session  will begin on January January 7, 2010 and applications are being accepting for that session at this time. Anyone wishing to apply for the January 2010 session should pick up an application at the Dublin Police Department and return it prior to December 15, 2009 in order to be considered for admission.

There is no cost to participants for the class and it is being conducted as a public service by the City of Dublin.
