ABOUT DUBLIN POLICE DEPARTMENT

 

MISSION

 

The mission of the City of Dublin Police Department is to serve the citizens of Dublin and visitors to the City in a respectful and dignified manner. All members of the Department shall strive to provide service and enforce laws in a responsive and applicable fashion.

The Department will work hand-in-hand with the community to identify problem areas and needs. The Department will further work hand-in-hand with members of the community to resolve these issues in order to improve quality life and to preserve the peace and dignity of the community.

DUBLIN LAW ENFORCEMENT CODE OF ETHICS

As a law enforcement officer, my fundamental duty is:

  • To serve mankind
  • To safeguard lives and property
  • To protect the innocent from deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation, and the peaceful against violence or disorder
  • To respect the constitutional rights of all men to liberty, equality and justice.
  • I will keep my private life unsullied as an example to all.
  • Maintain courageous calm in the face of danger, scorn or ridicule.
  • Develop self restraint and be constantly mindful of the welfare of others.
  • Honest in thought and deed in both my personal and official life, I will be exemplary in obeying the laws of the land and the regulations of the Department.
  • Whatever I see or hear of a confidential nature or that is confided to me in my official capacity will be kept ever secret unless revelation is necessary in the performance of my duties.
  • I will never act officiously or permit personal feelings, prejudices, animosities or friendships to influence my decisions.

DEPARTMENT STRUCTURE

The Police Department is currently comprised of the following:

Police Officers (4)
Investigator (1)
Telecommunicators (6)
School Crossing Guard (1)

All Police Officers are fully accredited and certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Each of these officers is required to maintain a level of competence in their chosen profession in accordance with State regulations and statutes.

 

DEPARTMENT FUNCTIONS

PATROL: This function comprises the bulk of the Department resources. Officers work 10 hour shifts and are responsible for all calls for service that come into the Communications Center during their shift. Officers are responsible for traffic enforcement and public safety during their assigned shifts. Officers patrol the City assuring the safety and security of all citizens.

INVESTIGATION: Patrol officers perform the basic investigations on all reported or observed criminal activities. Incidents or offenses that require further investigation or prolonged investigation are assigned to the investigator.

COMMUNICATIONS: All communications/dispatch functions for police, fire and EMS services are performed by civilian Police Department employees. The center is the hub receiving and dispatching all Police, Fire and EMS calls.

 

HOURS OF OPERATION

The Dublin Police Department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Police Department never closes, and there is always a communications officer on duty in the Police Department. Citizens and visitors alike are encouraged to contact the Police Department through the Communications Center at any time. The Communications Center is responsible for answering and dispatching all incoming phone calls to the Police Department, as well as the 911 system. All police, fire and EMS dispatching is done from this center.
